Air Pollution Control: Which System Is Best for Your Plant?

air pollution control

You know that your plant’s emissions must be maintained, but in order to do so, you need to know what your options are—and where to get them. Fortunately, Southern Field offers everything from technical inspection services to in-house air pollution control system design, so we know exactly what’s involved and how to make it work at peak efficiency. Read on!

Electrostatic Precipitators

Electrostatic precipitators come in wet and dry versions. They filter fine particles (dust, smoke, etc.) from a flowing gas by utilizing an induced electrostatic charge’s force, which causes minimal impediment of the gas flow through the unit. It is quite efficient in its energy consumption because it only applies energy to the particulate matter that is being collected.

Baghouses

Baghouses became popular in the 1970s after high-temperature fabrics were invented, and they remove particulates from the air or gas released due to commercial processes or combustion. They typically have a particulate collection efficiency rate of 99% or more, even with extremely small particles.

Dust Collectors

Dust collectors also improve the air quality of emissions from industrial and commercial processes, and are made to handle high-volume quantities of dust. They’re composed of a blower, dust filter, filter-cleaning system, and a receptacle or remover system.

Scrubbers

Just like all of the above, scrubbers work to keep your plant’s emissions cleaner, but there are a wide variety of them and the type you need depends on your facility. At its core, a scrubber removes pollutants from a gas stream by spraying it with, or forcing it through, a liquid to remove the polluted contents.
